About us
The Emsland Chamber Choir was founded in 2014
and sees itself as a forum for sophisticated choral singing
in western Lower Saxony.
The cultivation of valuable vocal music in rural areas
happens through independently conceived, organized and implemented concerts at a very high level.
Committed amateur singers meet here
from the entire northwest German region
between Papenburg and Lingen.
Promoting young talent is also a focus,
for students to get their first experiences
in qualified ensemble singing
and professional rehearsal work.
Musical direction
The approximately 40 singers from the entire Emsland district are conducted by a musical dual leadership:
Frauke Schwind (Hannover) and Ralf Stiewe (Papenburg).
Since its founding, Frauke Schwind has directed the choir together with Balthasar Baumgartner (Meppen / Lingen),
who became cathedral organist in Osnabrück in 2021.
Choir rehearsals
Preparing a concert project requires several months of rehearsal work with approximately one rehearsal day per month and one or more rehearsal weekends.
What is required is an independent development and engagement with choral literature, knowledge of notes and texts, and regular voice training.
The rehearsals take place at various locations in the cities of Emsland.
Non-profit organization
On May 21, 2023
the non-profit organization was founded
Kammerchor Emsland e. V.
and chose Sebastian von Melle,
Dr. Inga Rölleke and Dr. Elmar Oestreicher
to his board.
The association can also operate nationally
and is a member of the
Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC).
The Kammerchor Emsland e. V. promotes young musical talent
and cooperates with other cultural institutions,
without favoring any political or denominational direction.
